NBA scouts have high expectations for Washington Wizards rookie

The Washington Wizards will have two interesting rookies on their roster heading into the season. Alex Sarr, the No. 2 overall pick, may get most of the headlines, but it may be Bab Carrington, the No. 14 draft pick, who ultimately is better. Of the two players.

Josh Robbins of The Athletic met with several NBA scouts to ask their thoughts on Carrington, and both gave glowing reviews of the first-year guard.

“I think he’s the Wizards’ most promising young player,” one scout said. “I think he has a chance to be the best point guard in this last draft class. It wouldn’t shock me if he was a 10-year NBA starter.”

So, apparently, there are rumors that Carrington, not Sarr, will be the Wizards’ best player going forward. Heck, that also excludes impressive young players like Bilal Koulibaly and Corey Kispert.

Another scout even said Carrington could be one of the top players in his class.

“I think he has a chance to be one of the better prospects in this (past) draft,” the scout said.

Carrington spent one year at the University of Pittsburgh, appearing in 33 games and averaging 13.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 41.2/32.2/78.5 shooting splits in 33.2 minutes played.

The 19-year-old certainly has a lot of work to do offensively, as evidenced by his mediocre preseason performances, but it’s clear he has immense potential.

One thing is for sure: Carrington should definitely get plenty of opportunities in Washington, which won just 15 games last season and is likely to trade some veteran players this year.

Let’s see how much playing time Carrington gets this season.
