LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Police Department this week announced a major drug bust in which they seized enough fentanyl to kill more than the entire population of Los Angeles County, but that’s not all.
The incident occurred on October 16th during an undercover operation between the Los Angeles Police Department’s narcotics and gang teams in downtown Los Angeles.
Eventually, officers arrested and charged 28-year-old Jose Alberto Soto with selling fentanyl.
After Soto’s arrest, drug enforcement agents served a warrant at a South Los Angeles building, where they discovered and seized more than 50 pounds of powdered fentanyl, nearly 9 pounds of black tar heroin, and $14,500.
suggestion:
According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, just 2 mg of fentanyl can be lethal. So those 50 pounds would be enough to kill over 11 million people, or the entire population of LA County.
Aside from its lethality, the DEA estimates that fentanyl is worth more than $4 million on the streets.
The Los Angeles Police Department is still investigating this incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact LAPD.
