A poll by Rasmussen and American Thinker shows a seven-point shift in the race for the U.S. Senate majority against Sam Brown, a retired U.S. Army captain. A poll conducted ahead of the debate between Mr. Brown and Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) found that Mr. Rosen has lost 3 points since September, while Mr. Brown has gained 4 points in just one month. are. The latest poll showed Rosen with a narrow three-point lead, 47% to 44%, within the margin of error. In September, Rosen comfortably held a 10-point lead.

The debate at the University of Nevada, Reno and recent controversy could influence voters concerned about transgender athletes participating in women’s sports, a centerpiece of the Trump and Brown campaigns.

Last week, the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) women’s volleyball team announced that it would forfeit its Oct. 26 game against San Jose State University (SJSU) because of transgender player Blair Fleming. The team specifically cited “fairness and safety concerns” as the reason for the disqualification.

To avoid legal liability, the university announced that the game would go ahead despite the players’ withdrawal. The players were not forced to participate in the match and announced that they would not participate despite the university’s decision.

During the debate, Rosen showed little support for female athletes, saying he would leave it up to experts in “government agencies” to determine their rights to fairness and safety.

“What I can say is that every student-athlete deserves to have fair competition and a level playing field. That’s why I support parents, coaches and the governing league. They are the governing body. They are the experts. I believe they are the ones making these decisions. So, as with all sports matters, we are the ones who make these decisions. I’ll allow you to make a decision. I think you should do it now.”

The hosts then turned to Sam Brown and asked, “Mr. Brown, what rights, if any, should transgender athletes have when competing in women’s college sports?” .

“Nevada, let me be clear: What we just heard is that a politician is talking about this issue of whether or not biological males should be allowed to play in women’s sports,” Brown said. I don’t support biological males playing in women’s sports. On Tuesday night, the University of Nevada’s women’s volleyball team showed up. I was proud to stand with these young women for their courageous actions in defending their ability to have a fair and safe private locker room for themselves. It’s sad to me that our politicians don’t even have the expertise to discuss this issue when they should.”

Rosen responded: “Well, we have a governing body. We have coaches, we have parents, we have leagues, and they make all the decisions regarding sporting events. So it’s not politicians, it’s experts who make those decisions. I actually believe that all athletes should have fair competition and a level playing field, and depending on where they compete, current governing bodies such as the NCAA should set those rules. I fully support allowing users to create and set those parameters.

Last week, October 17, the New York Times and the Washington Post simultaneously reported that Mr. reported that it is having difficulty gaining support. (See graph above)

According to the latest cumulative polls, Brown trails Rosen by an average of five points. Rosen’s campaign continues to focus on expanding abortion rights (abortion up to six months of pregnancy is codified in Nevada state law), and he is more than 90% likely to vote for the Biden-Harris administration. Despite this, she is featured as a bipartisan problem solver. . Mr. Brown has made crippling inflation and the porous southern border a central focus of his campaign, but continues to lag Mr. Rosen in fundraising. The Globe reported that 94 percent of Rosen’s campaign contributions came from out-of-state donors.
