A Pakistani-American political action committee has endorsed former US President Donald Trump in the upcoming November presidential election, saying he is the best option on key issues among Pakistani voters in the US. said.

The Pakistan-U.S. Public Affairs Committee said, “While we certainly do not agree with the former president on every issue, after extensive meetings with his campaign and the Harris campaign, we believe the former president is committed to improving U.S.-Pakistan relations.” I believe he is a candidate.” (PacPac) said in a statement on Thursday.

The group said one of its key challenges was ensuring “the release of all political prisoners wrongfully imprisoned in Pakistan.”

“We believe that Mr. Trump’s leadership will foster stronger diplomatic and economic ties and ensure that the interests of Pakistan and the United States are represented at the highest levels of government,” the Pak-Pak statement said.

One of the main issues highlighted by the political action committee is the imprisonment of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is still in jail in Pakistan.

Khan has a strained relationship with the United States, which he blames in part for his ouster from power under Democratic President Joe Biden.

During the Trump years, Khan and the former president had a friendlier relationship than Biden, with Trump inviting Khan to the White House for an official visit and a meeting in the Oval Office.

“Under President Biden, the Pakistani government was forced into a legislative coup against the people’s democratically elected prime minister of Pakistan. Since then, the administration has done nothing to secure the release of the former prime minister and other political prisoners. ”PacPac announced in a statement. Said.

The group said it had had extensive consultations with the campaign of Vice President and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, but was “concerned that these policies will continue under President Harris’ administration, further straining relations between the two countries.” It is said that

The Biden administration has repeatedly said it would not comment on Khan’s incarceration status, but in March more than 20 U.S. members of Congress urged the president not to certify the February election, citing concerns of fraud. signed the letter.

“Despite allegations of pre-poll fraud, Pakistanis turned out in droves to make their voices heard, ensuring that the results of this election reflect the will of the people, not Pakistan’s elites or military. “It is in America’s interest to do so,” Rep. Greg Cassar, one of the members of Congress who spearheaded the letter, said in a statement.

The letter states that recognition by the Pakistani government should only be granted after a thorough, transparent and credible investigation into election interference is conducted and those imprisoned as a result of “political speech or activity” are released. It is recommended that.

Pakistan’s all-powerful military, which had previously supported Mr. Khan until the collapse, was widely seen as the power broker pulling the strings behind the election fraud.
