The top Senate Democrat was booed Tuesday for a walkout by Boeing workers in Seattle after he disparaged former President Trump and blamed the housing shortage.

Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee Chairwoman Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) told striking members of the United Nations Association: “Housing is expensive everywhere in the United States and people are leaving their homes. We haven’t built enough supply.” Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) District 751.

“Five years ago, I was involved in important negotiations to pass a bipartisan bill that would have seen millions, hundreds of thousands, up to a million units built by this time. , Donald Trump stepped in and canceled that agreement.”

She was drowned out by boos from the audience, as well as inaudible remarks.

The senator, who was unable to speak on the chaos, began speaking again, saying, “Here’s what I want to say.” “We need more affordable housing everywhere in America.”

IAM 751 union member Dan Zahlman said in an interview on KTTH Seattle’s “Jason Lantz Show” on Tuesday, “When you first hear that audio clip, you can’t believe they’re booing Donald Trump for what he did.” “It seems like it is, but the exact opposite is true.” .

“She was trying to inject left-wing radical politics into a very rare work opportunity for IAM members to actually increase their retirement benefits. And that’s not what we were there for. She didn’t have the will to do that.” A friendly audience spits it out.

“I don’t think she realizes…but the support for Donald Trump from union members is huge,” he added. “Just walk through the union parking lot at the Boeing factory and you’ll see a lot of Trump stickers on bumpers.”

The senator will be up for re-election in Blue Washington next month. Democrats have a strong advantage in holding onto seats in the state.

Cantwell’s office and campaign did not immediately comment to Fox News Digital.

Last month, the union voted to go on strike after rejecting a contract that would increase members’ salaries by 25% over four years. The IAM 751 union has approximately 33,000 members.

“This is about respect, this is about the past, and this is about fighting for our future,” IAM District 751 President John Holden said at the time.

In its own statement regarding the strike announcement, Boeing said: “The message was clear that the tentative agreement reached with IAM leadership was unacceptable to our union members. “We are committed to resetting and we will continue to do so.” We are ready to return to the table to reach a new agreement. ”

The company said in a regulatory filing this week that it expects to raise about $25 billion through stock and bond issuances, while also raising $10 billion to offset losses from the strike as debt repayments loom. The company also indicated that it plans to enter into a credit agreement.
