The only local debate was in La Crosse this week, but the other debate in Wisconsin will be held Friday night.

WIZM will broadcast the Wisconsin Senate debate between Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin and Republican challenger Eric Hovde from 7 to 8 p.m.

To listen, download the WIZM app or go online here. This discussion can also be heard on the radio on 92.3 FM / 1410 AM / 106.7 FM (north of Onalaska). I will record it and post it here later.

The debate will be moderated by Wisconsin Broadcasting Corporation Hall of Famer Jill Geisler.

She holds the Bill Plante Chair in Leadership and Media Integrity at Loyola University Chicago. A native of Wisconsin, she was one of the first female news directors for the major market affiliate that operated WITI-TV in Milwaukee. She moderated WBAF debates in 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2022.

The debate will be conducted by a diverse team of broadcasters and community broadcasters from across Wisconsin.

Aditi Debnath, Reporter, PBS Wisconsin Alison Fargot, Reporter, WKBT News 8 Now, La Crosse Neil Johnson, Reporter/Producer, Big Radio, Janesville Shannon Sims, Anchor, TMJ4, Milwaukee Jeff Thelen, Anchor/ Producer, WSAW-TV, Wausau

These five people worked with a team of journalists who make up the Data Team (below) to research issues that matter to voters and develop debate questions that elicit specific, meaningful answers from candidates.

During debates, members of the inquiry team respond to candidates, while the data team provides context, context, and resources to voters via digital and social platforms.

The data team consists of:

Dariel Fair, WKOW-TV Political Reporter, Madison Jonathan Krause, Woodward Community Media Multimedia Director, Appleton Harm Fenhuizen, WGBA-TV, Green Bay (and WTMJ-TV) Political Reporter/Multimedia Journalist, Elizabeth Wadas, Principal Investigator Reporter, WMTV-TV, Madison Jill Geisler
